Araria (Bihar): Police on Sunday increased vigil and conducted a flag march in Bihar's Araria district, bordering Nepal, as a precautionary measure in view of reports of communal tension in the neighboring country.

The district police told X that the administration is keeping a "strict vigil" on the areas along the India-NEPA border.

"Sub-divisional police officers and in-charges of the respective police stations along with paramilitary forces conducted a flag march in the areas close to the International Border. The situation is peaceful," police said.

"As a precautionary measure, flag marches were carried out during the day in areas near the International Border. The situation is completely peaceful."

Araria Superintendent of Police (SP) Ami Ranjan told PTI, "Officials from the concerned police stations also held meetings with the local people as a precautionary measure. Security has already been tightened in the district keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections. Has been given."

Apart from this, keeping in mind the festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr, Ramnavmi and Chhath Puja, a meeting was also held by the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Station Heads with peace committees, public representatives and local people in the district.

He said that the district police has also issued an advisory to the general public not to share or forward unverified posts/news on social media platforms as it may mislead people.
