Muzaffarpur: A case has been registered against nine people for allegedly holding several girls hostage and sexually assaulting them for months on the pretext of providing them jobs in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said.

He said that the accused persons were associated with a fake marketing firm.

Deputy SP Vineeta Sinha said, "All nine accused are absconding and the police have launched a search to nab them. A case has been registered following the court's direction."

One of the survivors had filed a complaint in the court against the nine people, he said.Sinha said, “We recorded the statement of the complainant as well as several other victims. The complaint revealed that the accused first contacted her through social media in June 2022 and asked her to come to Muzaffarpur to get a good job. Said."

"When she came to Muzaffarpur, she was first kept in a room. Many other young girls were also staying there. Later, she was shifted to an unknown place and was asked to call all the young women and bring them attractive Were engaged in offering jobs.“Fake firm,” the officer said.

Eventually, he said, the accused persons started living with the victims.

He said, “The accused had held the victims captive. The accused beat the victims and also sexually assaulted them. The complainant and other victims were also forced to marry.,

"Later, they were duped into getting their fetus aborted. The complainant also told the police that whenever they asked for their salary, the accused would tell them that they were now part of the firm. Finally, the victim ran away. She succeeded and went to the police station to lodge an FIR,” Sinha said.

The victim said that the police initially refused to accept her complaint and that is why she approached the court.

Sinha said it would be investigated why the police did not register his complaint earlier.
