Khagaria/Araria/Patna: About 36.69 per cent of the more than 98 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar till 1 pm on Tuesday, an election official said.

Voting began at 7 am amid tight security at 9,848 polling stations in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria seats and will continue till 6 pm, he said.

Till 1 pm, Supaul recorded the highest turnout of 38.58 percent, followed by Arari (37.09), Madhepura (36.84), Khagaria (36.02) and Jhanjharpur (34.94).

98,60,397 voters will decide the electoral fate of 54 candidates in the third phase of voting in Bihar.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said, "I urge people to exercise their franchise in large numbers. People should vote for the overall success of the country as well as the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi." One should vote for development." ,

Expressing similar views, another deputy chief minister of the state, Vijay Kumar Sinha, said in Patna, "People should vote for NDA to save the country from divisive forces and people involved in appeasement politics."

Chirag Paswan, chief of NDA ally Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), cast his vote at a polling booth in Khagaria.

He appealed to the people to exercise their franchise to make the country developed and prosperous.

RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said, "People must cast their vote... This is an important election to protect the Constitution and reservation and to provide employment to the youth."
