New Delhi [India], June 20: The Bicester Collection, a family of 12 distinctive shopping destinations in Europe, China and soon the United States, in partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey and Ashoka Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, announced the winners competition. Unlock Her Future Prize 2024 LATAM Edition during an awards ceremony at the Galería de Cristal in Madrid.

The Unlock Her Future Prize, which launched its first edition in the MENA region in 2023, is a cornerstone of The Bicester Collection's philanthropic program, DO GOOD, unified by the shared mission of empowering women and children around the world. With the support of key regional partners, Tecnológico de Monterrey and Ashoka Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, the 2024 edition of the Unlock Her Future Award identifies and supports female social entrepreneurs across Latin America, regardless of age, who possess inspiring skills , early and implement start-up ideas (less than three years of operation) that drive positive social, cultural or environmental impact, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. From an outstanding talent pool of 954 applicants who embody the entrepreneurial drive of the LATAM region, an International Selection Committee identified eight finalists who embarked on an intensive skills accelerator with Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City before traveling to Sao Paulo to present their startups to a panel of distinguished judges. Participating in the panel were Elena Foguet, commercial director of The Bicester Collection; María-Noel Vaeza, Regional Director for the Americas and the Caribbean of UN Women; Gilda Pérez-Alvarado, strategy director and CEO of Orient Express of Accor S.A; Mireya Cisneros, Philanthropist and Businesswoman; Paola Rojas, journalist and television news presenter; and Luiza Helena Trajano, president of the Board of Luiza Magazine.

At the awards ceremony in Madrid's glittering Cristal Gallery, Paola Rojas, master of ceremonies and judge of the evening's award, announced the winners of the Unlock Her Future Award LATAM Edition 2024, recognizing the exceptional talent of:

Thamires Pontes, BrazilPHYCOLABS: Develops products and technologies, taking advantage of the potential of algae as an alternative to replace petrochemical materials.

Valentina Agudelo, Colombia

SALVA HEALTH: Develops wearable devices with AI to analyze breast tissue, helping to detect breast cancer early and making it accessible to women in remote areas. While three awards are offered, the judges, inspired by talent and innovation shown by the finalists, they unanimously agreed to split the third prize between two impressive candidates. This prize, which is sponsored by Grupo Financiro Banorte, will be shared by:

Annie Rosas, Mexico

BLUEKALI: a social enterprise that uses technology to clean oceans and rivers, addresses challenges in recycling plant material collection and improves the jobs of garbage collectors.Leydi Cruz, Bolivia

AGRIMET: Helps the climate resilience of small farmers through a specialized consulting and data subscription service, which allows them to improve their agricultural practices in irrigation management and generate higher yields.

Each winner will receive a grant of up to US$100,000, accompanied by an expert mentorship and continuing education program to foster their entrepreneurial skills and accelerate the successful launch and growth of their startups. The program is presented with the generous support of Grupo Financiero Banorte y Creel, García-Cuellar, Aiza y Enríquez and UN Women. Additionally, Kristal de Valle, 17, from Guatemala, was recognized as the Unlock Her Future Award Young Changer by MINDVERSE, its mission to empower students to discover and develop their full potential through personalized education. Supported by a virtual avatar tutor powered by artificial intelligence, she aims to offer 24/7 access to education beyond the classroom and encompass the diverse skills and needs of students.
