New Delhi, Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has appointed Sharat Sinha as CE of Airtel Business with effect from June 3, 2024.

In this role, Sinha will report to Gopal Vittal and will be part of the Airte management board, according to a release.

Sinha joins the Airtel business from Checkpoint Software Technologies, where he served as President of Asia Pacific.

An experienced technology professional, he has also worked with Palo Alto Networks, Cisco and VMware in various leadership roles. His early experiences at Ericsson and VSNL have also given him a good telecom background, the release said.

Gopal Vittal, CEO & MD, Bharti Airtel expressed confidence that Sinha's extensive global experience in product management and business leadership in global technology companies will provide tremendous strength to Airtel's ambitions in rapidly growing the company's portfolio in connectivity and adjacent sectors.

In June last year, Airtel announced the removal of Ajay Chitkara, chief executive officer of Airtel Business, the enterprise arm of Bharti Airtel. Bharti Airtel subsequently reorganized the leadership in the enterprise arm by dividing it into three segments – global business led by Vani Venkatesh, domestic business led by Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, and Nextra Data Center led by Ashish Arora.
