Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra said that after the results of Lok Sabha elections 2024, Bharat Alliance has emerged as a strong opposition, although NDA's claim to form the government remains strong.

"Big leaders of the Indian alliance have now started talking about a strong opposition instead of trying to form a government. The opposition said that BJP is weak and it is going to form the government with the alliance, but India Alliance has emerged as a strong opposition, so we as a strong opposition will raise our voice in the Parliament on public issues and We will form the government soon because the public has made up their mind for change,” said SP MLA Mehrotra.

At the same time, BJP's Subrata Pathak, who lost from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat, reached Lucknow Chief Minister's residence to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday. He said, "We have met the Chief Minister and will continue to work to correct the shortcomings in the areas where BJP has faced defeat."

Subrata Pathak further said that Samajwadi Party has got votes by provoking the public.

Mehrotra, who lost the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, said, "On one side there is a weak government and on the other side there is a strong opposition, we will raise the issues of the people."

"The Samajwadi Party has won a big victory in Ayodhya and the BJP has faced a crushing defeat, which clearly shows that Lord Ram is with us. The public has made up its mind to bring about change. The BJP was arrogant in power, hence The public has made up their mind to break his ego,” he added. In a major setback, the BJP got only 33 seats as against 63 in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, secured 37 seats on its own, leading to a massive improvement in the state.

The counting of 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, significantly less than 303 seats in 2019. For the first time since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014, it did not get a majority on its own.

Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth by winning 99 seats. Facing tough competition and defying all predictions, India Block crossed the 230 mark.
