Bengaluru: Despite no respite from the relentless heat, Bengaluru city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to weather watchdogs.

CP Patil, director of the Meteorological Centre, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, said that on April 27, the temperature in Bengaluru city reached 37.4 degrees Celsius, about 3.3 degrees Celsius below the normal maximum temperature.

Patil said this year's record high has still not surpassed the all-time high of 39.2 degrees Celsius recorded on April 25, 2016.

Meanwhile, Kalaburagi, which recorded the highest maximum temperature in Karnataka, saw a slight drop. The temperature was recorded at 40.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, whereas it was 42.4 degrees a day earlier.

While Bengaluru will remain dry on April 30 with temperatures possibly reaching 39 degrees Celsius, the IMD has predicted light rain over parts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir Vijayapura, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Mysuru.
