A total of 32.82 percent of the 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise till 11 am on Tuesday in the four Lok Sabha seats of Kolkata, West Bengal. An election officer gave this information.

A total of 73,37,651 voters, including 36,12,395 women and 154 third gender voters, are eligible to exercise their franchise.

He said voters were seen queuing up outside 7,360 polling stations in the four parliamentary constituencies of Malda North, Malda South, Murshidabad and Jangipur, where the third phase of voting was underway.

He said that Jangipur had the highest turnout of 33.81 percent, followed by Malda South (33.09), Murshidabad (32.72) and Malda North (31.73).

The official said that till 11 am, 29.39 percent voting was recorded in Bhagwangola assembly seat of Murshidabad district, where by-election is going on.

He said, so far 298 complaints have been lodged with the CEO of West Bengal.

"We have disposed of 42 of those complaints. We are looking to resolve the remaining complaints. Our officials are closely monitoring the proceedings," he said.

To ensure free and fair polling, the ECI has deployed 13,600 state police personnel as well as 334 companies of central forces.
