Kolkata: More than 60 percent voting was recorded till 3 pm in the second phase of voting on Friday in three Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal. An Election Commission official gave this information.

The ongoing voting in Darjeeling, Balurghat and Raiganj constituencies will continue till 6 pm.

He said Darjeeling recorded the highest turnout of 61.97 percent, while Raiganj and Balurghat recorded 60.20 percent and 59.53 percent voting respectively.

"Voting was peaceful and there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the parliamentary constituencies," the official said.

He said that till 2.15 pm the Election Commission received 411 complaints from the three parliamentary constituencies.

In this phase, a total of 47 candidates including state BJP President Sukant Majumdar are in the fray, out of which 51.17 lakh people are eligible to use their franchise.

A total of 5,298 polling stations have been set up in the three constituencies. He said there are 1,999 polling stations in Darjeeling, 1,730 in Raigan and 1,569 in Balurghat.

A total of 272 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) or 27,200 personnel along with 12,983 state police personnel have been deployed for the elections, the official said.
