BJP is ahead in Raiganj constituency of North Dinajpur district, Bagda of North 24 Parganas and Ranaghat-South of Nadia. Trinamool Congress is in a better position in Maniktala seat of Kolkata.

According to assembly-wise result data in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the BJP's advantage margin was highest in Raiganj at 46,739, followed by 35,936 in Ranaghat-South and 20,614 in Baghda.

However, the assembly-wise lead margin for Trinamool Congress in Maniktala in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections is just 3,575. What is even more worrying for the ruling party is that this small margin of advantage in Maniktala is much smaller than the Trinamool Congress' victory margin from that assembly constituency of 20,238 just three years ago in the 2021 assembly elections.

This marginal lead in Maniktala has worried the Trinamool Congress leadership, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has formed a four-member committee to oversee preparations for the bypolls there.

By-election in Maniktala has become necessary due to the death of former Trinamool Congress MLA Sadhan Pandey.

In the other three constituencies, former BJP MLAs, namely Vishwajit Das from Bagda, Dr Mukut Mani Adhikari from Ranaghat-South and Krishna Kalyani from Raiganj, who were elected in 2021, had to resign from the Assembly due to contesting the Lok Sabha elections. As a candidate of Trinamool Congress.

Although all three lost this time, there is a need to hold by-elections in these three assembly constituencies from where they had resigned.

Trinamool Congress insiders said that in principle it has been decided to field Sadhan Pandey's widow Supti Pandey from Maniktala this time, although her name has not been officially announced yet.
