Kolkata: Four women BJP MLAs on Tuesday protested outside the West Bengal Assembly for the second consecutive day in protest against the attack on a couple in North Dinajpur district and alleged torture on a woman in Cooch Behar.
BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul and three other MLAs staged a protest demanding punishment to those involved in both the incidents.
A purported video of an attack on a couple in Chopra in North Dinajpur district over alleged illicit relations had gone viral on Sunday.
However, the authenticity of the video could not be independently confirmed.
The accused Tajmul alias JCB was arrested after the police took suo motu cognizance and registered an FIR.
BJP alleges that accused Chopra is close to MLA Hamidul Islam.
Condemning this incident, TMC had said that the party does not support such activities.
A BJP woman leader was allegedly stripped and tortured in Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district on June 25.
