Till 3 pm, the CEO office received 91 complaints, of which 61 were from Ranaghat-South assembly constituency in Nadia district.

The situation worsened in Kolkata's Maniktala constituency when BJP candidate Kalyan Choubey allegedly caught hold of a fake voter and chased him.

Soon Choubey was surrounded by a group of Trinamool Congress workers and started raising slogans of "go back".

He alleged that BJP candidates were unnecessarily trying to create tension in the area, while the voting process remained completely peaceful.

Later, BJP supporters protested in front of Phoolbagan police station against the development.

West Bengal BJP president and Union minister Sukant Majumdar said the Election Commission of India (ECI) should have been more proactive in preventing such irregularities.

“In many places the election process has become a farce. But this cannot continue forever and there will be a massive rebellion against the ruling party in the coming days. At the same time, I expected a more active role from the Commission,” he said.

As per CEO office records, till 3 pm. The average voting percentage in the four assembly constituencies was recorded at 50.22 percent, with the highest figure being 53.89 in Raiganj, 52.41 in Ranaghat-South, 50.81 in Bagda and the lowest being 43.78 percent in Maniktala.
