Begusarai (Bihar) [India] Begusarai, one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar that goes to polls on Monday, is considered a stronghold of the Bhumihar community. The dominance of Bhumihars in Begusarai is evident from this fact. Bhumihar has been elected MP nine times, except in 2009 when JDU's Monajir Hassa emerged victorious. About 19 per cent of the total voters in Begusarai are upper caste Bhumihars, followed by Muslims, who form 15 per cent of the voters. Yadavs constitute 12 percent of the population and Kurmi constitute 7 percent of the voters. The list of 2024 candidates for the Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency includes Abadhesh Kumar Roy of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Giriraj Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The main parties contesting the elections in Bihar include the NDA alliance in which BJP and JD(U) are reuniting and the Grand Alliance alliance comprising RJD and Congress. Earlier, Giriraj Singh, while speaking to reporters, said that all the parties in Bihar Expressing confidence of winning 40 seats, the minister said, “I am 200% confident that we will win 40 seats in Bihar.200%. These people with piecemeal, appeasement and Mughal mentality can never do welfare of Bihar and the country. All 40/40 seats in the state will be in PM Modi's name. Begusarai is known for its industries, including the Indian Oil Refinery Hindustan Fertilizer Limited and the Thermal Power Station, all located in Barauni. There are also hundreds of small industrial units in the private sector in the district.The total population according to 2011 census is 2,970,541. Of these, 1,567,660 are males while 1,402,881 are females. In 2011, a total of 589,667 families lived in Begusarai district. The average sex ratio in Begusarai district is 895. The total literacy rate of Begusarai district is 63.87 percent.In the 2019 elections, BJP's Giriraj Singh won by 692,193 votes. CPI's Kanhaiya Kumar got 269976 votes. RJD's Tanveer Hasan got 198.23 votes. In the 2014 elections, BJP's Bhola Singh won the Begusarai seat for the first time. He defeated RJD's Tanveer Hasan by a margin of 5% votes. Bhola Singh won by 428,227 votes, while RJD's Tanveer Hasan got 369,892 votes.Notably, voting in Bihar, which sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha, is taking place in all seven phases. Counting of votes for all phases is to take place on June 4. In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting was held on May 7 on five seats of Bihar - Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura and Khagaria.
