New Delhi: Delhi Police will track the activities of Haryana-based criminals who are either in jail or operating their gangs from the national capital and share the data with the poll-bound state, officials said on Thursday.

Voting for 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8.

A senior police officer said, "Many criminals from Haryana are lodged in Delhi jail. Delhi Police will keep a close watch on them and their activities."

The officer further said that the police will also maintain records of their communications which will be shared with the Haryana Police for completely hassle-free elections in the state.

Police said that many senior political leaders from the national capital will hold rallies in Haryana, thus the inputs shared by Delhi Police will play a vital role for Haryana Police.

"We have already asked senior police officers of those police districts of Delhi which are either close to Haryana or share their borders with the state, to increase night patrolling, to make a list of bad characters of their police stations And also know whether they are associated with any criminal gang,” the officer said.

"We are identifying all minor, major and connecting routes through which people can come or enter Delhi. The deployment will be done on such routes," the official said.

The official said that in view of the elections, Haryana Police has already increased its security along the interstate borders, flying squads and surveillance teams have been activated.

He said the police are also keeping an eye on drugs and illegal weapons being smuggled into the state.
