New Delhi: Bariatric surgeons and researchers from across the world will gather in Goa for a five-day conference starting on April 17 to discuss future weight loss procedures.

The 7th Annual Consensus Conference of the MGB-OAGB International Club will be organized in partnership with Apollo Hospitals, Goa Medical College, Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI), ARIS and Clinical Robotic Surgeons Association (CRSA).

Bariatric surgery is a medical term for surgical intervention to prevent obesity.

The conference will be held in the backdrop of two major developments – firstly the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery's endorsement of bariatric surgery and the issuance of guidelines from IFSO and the MGB-OAGB Club, said Dr. Aru Prasad, Organizing Chairman and President of the Club. Said."This is the first assembly since bariatric procedures were strongly approved by the American Society of Metabolism and Bariatric Surgery. The OU guidelines, published with IFSO, redefine the landscape," said Dr Prasad.

He further added, “With the recent endorsement of bariatric surgery and the publication of these important guidelines, we have a golden opportunity to establish best practices and raise patient care standards across the world. Goa becomes our base for global experiences Is."

The conference features an impressive array of international pioneers who revolutionized MGB OAGB surgery globally.On April 19, surgeons will be given the opportunity to attend a certification course, while a cadaveric course provides practical training on laparoscopic and robotic MG OAGB surgery.

On April 20 and 21, there will be abstract-based presentations, video sessions showcasing cutting-edge research and surgical techniques, as well as other panel discussions.
