Palghar, Two people have been arrested with banned tobacco products worth Rs 18 lakh in Palghar district of Maharashtra. Police gave this information on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team on Saturday stopped a truck parked at Amboli village on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway and found the vehicle loaded with banned tobacco products, an official said.

Police arrested drivers Arshad Gasuddin Khan (30) and Rambahadur Birjlal Yadav (52), both natives of Uttar Pradesh, and seized medicines worth Rs 18 lakh, he said.

The official said the two have been booked under relevant provisions of BNS and FDA rules.
