New Delhi, Badminton Association of India (BAI) has successfully conducted a coach development program to bring uniformity in coaching practices and create a strong pipeline of potential badminton stars.

The 11-day event, organized in collaboration with REC Ltd and Sports Authority of India (SAI), began on June 25 and concluded on Friday, coincidentally on World Badminton Day.

It was conducted simultaneously at the National Center of Excellence (NCE), Guwahati in Assam and Raipur in Chhattisgarh and a total of 53 participants from 22 states of the country were trained in grassroots level coaching methods.

BAI Secretary General Sanjay Mishra said in a release, "Grassroots coaches play a vital role in identifying and nurturing talent at an early stage. This program equips them with the tools to identify potential stars and lay the foundation for their development. "

"We had organized a similar event simultaneously in four cities - Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Raipur and Guwahati in the beginning of March, in which around 100 participants, including some former players, participated."

Taruna Gupta, Executive Director, REC Foundation, was the chief guest during the closing ceremony.
