Mumbai, veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani on Tuesday said the building he owns is under renovation and has not been sold to clear debts, as reported in the media.

Vashu Bhagnani had recently backed the big-budget action film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, along with his son Jackky Bhagnani and his daughter Deepshikha Deshmukh under his banner.

There were reports that the offices of Juhu-based Pooja Entertainment were sold to clear a debt of Rs 250 crore. The production company was also accused of non-payment of fees and dismissal of most of its staff.

Responding to the reports, Vashu Bhagnani in a press release said, "The building (office space) that people are talking about has not been sold to anyone, even now it belongs to me. We are just redeveloping it into a tower that will house luxury homes. This was planned a year and a half ago. I was waiting for 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' to be launched, after which we wanted to start the renovation.”

The producer, who has begun production on a large-scale animated series, also dismissed reports of layoffs of his staff.

"We have had the same team working with us for 10 years, we have not asked anyone to leave," added Vashu Bhagnani, known for backing 1990s and 2000s hits like "Coolie No 1", "Pyaar Kiya To Darna "Kya." " and "Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai".

Apart from "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", which reportedly suffered losses worth Rs 250 crore, other Pooja Entertainment films like "Bell Bottom" (2021), "Mission Raniganj" and "Ganapath", both releasing in 2023, also they did it. It's not doing well at the box office.

Vashu Bhagnani said that people who claim that Pooja Entertainment has not yet paid its dues should start a conversation with the poster.

"If there are people who claim that we owe them money, they should come forward and talk to us. Do they have proper contracts with Pooja Entertainment? Have they filed a case regarding this? There are many ways to solve this problem instead of ranting on social media .

"If there is a problem, we will solve it. No one will escape. Please come to my office, talk to us, give us your documents and give us 60 days to resolve things. I will not give in to any pressure or blackmail. We also work with production companies in the UK. If they owe someone money, then people should contact them directly," the producer said in the statement.
