Ayodhya (UP), Uttar Pradesh government has suspended six officials of civic agencies for gross negligence following road subsidence and waterlogging in several parts of the newly constructed Ram Path in Ayodhya.

After rains on June 23 and June 25, about 15 streets and roads along Ram Path were flooded. Even the houses along the road were submerged in water.

Parts of the 14 kilometer long road also broke down at more than a dozen places.

The suspended officials include Dhruv Aggarwal (executive engineer), Anuj Deshwal (assistant engineer) and Prabhat Pandey (junior engineer) of the Public Works Department (PWD) and Anand Kumar Dubey (executive engineer), Rajendra Kumar Yadav (assistant engineer) and Mohd. . Shahid (Junior Engineer) of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam.

Agarwal and Deshwal were suspended on Friday on the orders of Special Secretary Vinod Kumar. Pandey's suspension order was issued by PWD Chief Engineer (Development) VK Srivastava.

Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Managing Director Rakesh Kumar Mishra issued orders for suspension of three engineers.

The state government has also issued a notice to Ahmedabad-based contractor Bhuvan Infracom Private Limited in this matter.

The PWD office order said that the topmost layer of Ram Path was damaged shortly after its construction, which reflects the laxity in the work done as a top priority of the Uttar Pradesh government and the poor reputation of the state among the common people. Is damaging the image.

PWD Principal Secretary Ajay Chauhan said that further investigation is underway.
