North Sound [Antigua and Barbuda], Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has opened up about his declining form and feels he is not far away from achieving it.

Maxwell has been struggling to get through the purple patch, and his poor form is due to a poor season with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

In ten matches of IPL 2024, he scored just 52 runs at an average of 5.78 and strike rate of 120.93. He also recorded a few ducks in the first half of the season.

Maxwell's poor performance continued in the ongoing T20 World Cup as he scored only 39 runs at an average of 13.00 in four matches."Still feeling really good. I'm hitting the ball very well, but... I think it's really hard to get that rhythm and pace. You saw that in our openers. "Going out there and pumping it all out, it's been quite difficult to adjust to the spot and then the middle order," Maxwell told ESPN's Around the Wicket.

Maxwell also praised fellow all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who has been performing strongly since the start of this competition.

“The only player who has consistently thrashed them throughout the tournament is Stoney – he has been excellent.Having those guys under me gives me a lot of confidence, knowing I've got a bit of time to get myself into the tournament, and we've got some real quality. "It's a good situation to be in that I don't think I've given my all, played quite well against England... but I know it's not too far."

Stoinis has been directly instrumental in Australia's four wins in the group stage. With 156 runs, he is one of the leading run scorers of the tournament, and also has six wickets to his name.

Australia has not yet lost in the tournament under Marsh's leadership. But, since his hamstring injury, which he suffered during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Marsh has struggled to get runs on the board.

Maxwell praised Marsh for making an impact in a short period of time and for his impressive performances across all formats over the years.

"Mitch has been incredible over the last few years since he came back in all three formats, especially in Tests. I think that's probably reflected in the confidence he has in the other two formats. Watching him go about his work, you always Know that he is performing well.Basically just one or two shots away (for the opposition) from ruining the game, and we're looking forward to seeing it," Marsh said.

Australia will play its first match in the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup against Bangladesh on Friday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua and Barbuda.
