Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra): Police have received an anonymous letter threatening to kill newly elected Shiv Sena MP Sandipan Bhumre, a senior officer said here on Wednesday.

He told that this letter was received by the office of the Director General of Police of Maharashtra a few days ago.

Minister of State Bhumre was elected to the Lok Sabha from Aurangabad constituency in the recent elections.

The letter writer claimed that people close to Bhumre are doing injustice to the people, and specifically mentioned the officials of the Bidkin police station.

The author threatened that Bhumre's convoy would be attacked if the MP tried to 'save those who were committing injustice' in the district.

Superintendent of Police Manish Kalwania said that the letter has been sent to the concerned police station and investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Bhumre told reporters that anyone can issue threats anonymously and the writer should reveal his identity.

The Shiv Sena leader said, "I am not afraid of threats."
