These wearable devices will generate cutting-edge insights from physical metrics such as heart rate and high intensity load data for players, enhancing their analysis of matches and training sessions.

ATP has approved both STATSports and Catapult devices and all data will be centralized into ATP Tennis IQ – Wearables, an intuitive new dashboard for players, the organization announced Thursday.

The initiative introduces a new dimension to ATP Tennis IQ, an analytics platform launching in 2023 that democratizes access to match data and insights for players, aiding preparation and recovery. This is the latest in a strategic effort by the ATP to grow the game through technology, data and innovation, the ATP said on its website.

Ross Hutchins, ATP Chief Sports Officer, said: “The introduction of wearables on Tour is a major step forward in our effort to optimize player performance and prevent injury. Ultimately, it helps players get the best out of their careers. We are delighted to make cutting-edge data insights more accessible than ever and look forward to continuing our innovation in this area.

All data collected will remain confidential, ensuring privacy for players and their support teams. The ATP reported that the second phase of the initiative, which will include next-generation insights derived from wearable data and player feedback, is scheduled for later this year.
