A truck and a passenger minibus reportedly collided in the Ceyhan district of Adana province, Xinhua news agency quoted the semi-official Anadolu Agency as saying.

Anadolu said the injured have been hospitalized and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. He said that the drivers have not been identified yet.

Official data shows that road traffic accidents involving death or injury in Turkey rose to 235,771 in 2023, a 19.2 percent increase from the previous year.

A total of 6,548 deaths and 350,855 injuries were recorded in road accidents in 2023, with an average of 18 deaths and 961 injuries recorded per day.

Earlier on May 6, 2024, at least eight people were killed and 11 others were injured in a collision between a passenger minibus and a truck in Gaziantep.

On May 6, a minibus heading towards the neighboring town of Hatay collided with a concrete mixer truck.

The vehicle carrying several passengers was crushed by the impact of the accident and rolled down a slope.
