Shimla: Congress candidates are leading in four assembly by-election seats in Himachal Pradesh, while two of the six Congress rebels, who are now BJP candidates, are leading from their respective seats, according to Election Commission trends.

According to the trends of the Election Commission, a close contest is being seen on all the six seats in the state.

From Kutlehar and Gagret, BJP candidates Davinder Bhutto and Chaitanya Sharma are trailing by 4,272 votes and 7,970 votes respectively.

Congress candidate Anuradha Rana from Lahaul and Spiti seat is leading by 1,786 votes after the last round (14) of counting, although the official declaration of the result is awaited.

BJP leader Rajinder Rana, who defeated former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the 2017 assembly elections, is trailing by 2,174 votes from Sujanpur seat.

In Dharamshala, former BJP minister Sudhir Sharma is leading by 3,115 votes, while his party's candidate from Badsar, Indra Dutt Lakhanpal is leading by 2,441 votes.

The by-elections were held on June 1 along with the elections for four Lok Sabha seats.

The assembly constituencies where by-elections were held are Sujanpur, Dharamshala, Lahaul and Spiti, Badsar, Gagret and Kutlehar.
