The workshop was organized to strengthen the district-level Key Resource Persons (KRPs) from the Department of School Education (DOSE) and Women and Child Development (WCD) of all the districts for dissemination of training to the District/Circle/Block level officials. Has gone. To organize basic awareness programs at in situ-camp level for children living in relief camps or whose education continuity has been affected by the disaster.

The workshop was organized by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) in collaboration with UNICEF, Assam.ASDMA plans to equip the relief camps in the districts with “School in a Box Kit/CFS Kit” which will be handed over to the school authorities and to strengthen the relief camps with material and resources to run the camps. Will be used as camps. smoothly.

ASDMA also plans to strengthen the camps by installing sanitary napkin vending machines with incinerators for women and adolescent girls in the relief camps, provided the vending machines are fully functional and sanitary napkins are duly replenished during camp operations.

During the inaugural session on Monday, Mukesh Sahu, Principal Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, lauded ASDMA for leading several innovative initiatives for disaster risk reduction, of which CFS is one.

He stressed the importance of identifying and addressing the diverse needs of children, including protecting children from abuse and exploitation in camps as well as post-disaster risks of school dropout, trafficking, child marriage, etc.

Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer, ASDMA, highlighted the journey of Team Assam in creating a CFS-like model for the entire country and beyond.They discussed the overall purpose and outcomes of caring for and caring for children in and out of camps to ensure the well-being of children during and after disasters.

Narayan Konwar, Secretary, Department of School Education, also elaborated on the importance of CFS in the context of the National Education Policy and the continued implementation of key missions including basic literacy and numeracy.

Rahul Das, Director, Directorate of Women and Child Development, in his speech stressed the importance of this training in streamlining services for children in relief camps and involvement of stakeholders.

Speaking about the workshop, Education Expert, Aparajita Chaudhary appreciated the leadership of ASDMA for leading the implementation of child friendly spaces in emergencies and bringing together all stakeholders for integrated service delivery to children in relief camps .

The program was also attended by the first batch of workshop participants from different districts along with all senior officials of DWCD, DOSE, UNICEF, Assam and ASDMA.
