Guwahati (Assam) [India], On the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day, people across Assam enthusiastically celebrated the art of healthy living on Friday.

Many organizations and departments held early morning yoga events under cloudy skies.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal joined the Yoga Day celebrations in Tinsukia. She was accompanied by Rameswar Teli (former Union Minister), Sanjay Kishan (Minister, Government of Assam), Vijay Kumar (Chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India) and other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his cabinet colleagues Ashok Singhal and Keshab Mahanta participated in the state celebrations of the 10th International Yoga Day at Tezpur in Sonitpur district.

In Guwahati, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria along with Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog participated in the International Yoga Day celebration.

Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass participated in the Yoga Day celebration at Bajali.

NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated International Yoga Day with a massive yoga session at its premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation of over 100 people including officials, employees, union and association representatives, family members and members of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and associates.

The session was conducted by Rubul Das, a certified yoga guru and jawan of CISF unit, NTPC Bongaigaon.

Induri S Reddy, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon conducted the yoga session and addressed the gathering. She highlighted the importance of yoga in achieving holistic well-being and fostering a sense of global unity.

Similarly, Northern Frontier Railways celebrated International Yoga Day at the NFRSA Indoor Stadium. Chetan Kumar Shrivastva, managing director of NFR, was accompanied by other senior officials and railway staff to perform yoga at the venue.

India Tourism Guwahati in association with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council celebrated International Yoga Day at KASA Diphu Indoor Stadium. Around 500 people participated in the energizing yoga session. Tuliram Ronghang, Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Madhumita Bhagawati, Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Assam, were present on the occasion.

The zonal office of Food Corporation of India also organized a yoga session for the employees at its premises. The Yoga session was carried out emphasizing the need to maintain mental and spiritual well-being.

Similarly, NCC cadets of Border Security Force, Guwahati Border and Central Armed Police Forces of Patgaon Composite Hospital participated in a collective yoga session. Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of 151 Base Hospital participated in the Yoga activities held at the Defense office in Guwahati.

All events highlighted the collective commitment to promoting health and wellness through yoga.

This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," highlights the importance of yoga in improving personal and community well-being.
