New Delhi, Union Home Ministry has appointed senior IAS officer Ashwini Kumar as MCD Commissioner.
Kumar replaces Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Gyanesh Bharti, who was transferred to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development as additional secretary in March.
Kumar is currently serving as Delhi Divisional Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in the Government of Delhi.
He was the first special officer of the unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
According to a Home Ministry order, "I am directed to say that with the approval of the competent authority, it has been decided to appoint Ashwini Kumar, IAS (AGMUT), 1992, as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi with immediate effect. Has been taken." Rajniwas.
Kumar is a 1992-batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
