Guwahati (Assam) [India], Ashwin Noronha was on Wednesday appointed as airport director of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA).

Ashwin is currently working as Chief Operating Officer at Mumbai International Airport Limited.

Ashwin Noronha is a veteran of the aviation industry and previously worked at Qatar Airways Group, KPMG and Zurich Airports in India.

Ashwin will lead the Guwahati Airport in the direction of the overall vision of Adani Enterprises.

Guwahati airport processed over five lakh passengers in May 2024, almost 15% more than the corresponding month of 2023.

To manage the tremendous growth and enable passenger delight, in the coming years, Guwahati Airport is expected to witness significant changes.

A new terminal with capacity for more than 13 million passengers is planned to be ready for operation by mid-2025, with increased runway capacity, MRO facilities, heliport and cargo market to establish the airport as an international hub for the Southeast Asian.

Ashwin Noronha said, "Development at Guwahati airport will focus on redefining airport infrastructure through growing regional footprint. There will be greater focus on consumers and non-passengers. With deeper investment in digital technology innovations "Guwahati airport will enable a seamless passenger experience."

"I would like to thank my predecessor, Utpal Baruah, who played an intrinsic role in the development of the airport," he added.

As part of the Adani Airports team since 2019, Utpal Baruah led and guided various teams to deliver a seamless experience to passengers. During his tenure as director of the airport for almost three years, Utpal brought his invaluable experience in the field of aviation to make LGBIA Guwahati a world-class airport.
