In the meeting, PM Modi was briefed about the temperature outlook between April and June, including the forecast for the upcoming hot weather season (April to June), the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.

PM Modi was also apprised about the possibility of above normal maximum temperatures in most parts of the country.

The preparedness in the health sector in terms of essential medicines, intravenous fluids, ice packs, ORS and drinking water was reviewed, the PMO release said.

During the meeting, emphasis was laid on timely dissemination of necessary awareness materials, especially in regional languages, through all platforms such as television radio and social media.

"Since 2024 is expected to be warmer than normal, coinciding with the general elections, it was felt that the advisories issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) should be translated into regional languages. Must be known and disseminated widely,” the PM's statement read.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Modi stressed on the 'whole of government' approach.

He said that all organs of the government and various ministries at the central, state and district levels need to work in coordination on this.

According to the statement, PM Modi also emphasized on creating awareness along with adequate preparations in hospitals.

He also highlighted the need for quick detection and extinguishing of forest fires.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Home Secretary, officials of India Meteorological Department and NDMA were present in the meeting.
