Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday called a high-level meeting to assess the widespread damage caused by landslides and floods caused by rains in the state, which have disrupted surface communication in several districts.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Chief Secretary Dharmendra, the CM stressed the importance of expeditiously restoring road connectivity, especially in flood-affected districts.

“Prompt restoration of roads damaged due to floods and landslides is vital to ensure access to essential services and assistance,” he said.

He allocated special funding for the immediate restoration of critical road connectivity from Parsi-Parlo to Koloriang in the remote Kurung Kumeyaay District, including the bridge over the Kumeyaay River.

He stressed, "Restoration plans must be prepared and implemented without any delay. Restoration work must begin immediately in the Kurung Kumeyaay area and other flood-affected districts cut off by incessant rains."

Khandu directed the concerned departments to ensure timely provision of medicines and food supplies to the affected areas.

Additionally, the Chief Minister was briefed about the efforts of the Kurung Kumeya District Administration to reopen Damin Road for vehicular movement. Officials said the road was cut off for several days due to continuous rain and floods.
