Srinagar: The Army on Monday flagged off the final phase of the D-5 motorcycle operation to commemorate the 25th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil war.

The expedition comprising five officers of the Military Police Corps, four JCOs and 17 soldiers including women riders was flagged off from the National War Memorial in Delhi on June 26, culminating at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras for the final leg of the journey. Will happen. ,

"Paying a touching tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, the Indian Army has launched an all India D-5 motorcycle campaign to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Indian victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War. 1999,” a defense spokesperson said in a statement here.

He said the expedition, which arrived here on Saturday, was sent on Monday for its onward journey.

The spokesperson said the pan-India campaign has covered a distance of 10,000 km on five different routes starting from Dhanushkodi, Dwarka, Dinjan, Delhi and reaching Dras.

He said that the purpose of the rally is to pay tribute to the brave men of the Indian Army who won the Kargil war. "With a sense of purpose the motorcycle rally will pass through challenging terrain, reflecting the spirit and determination displayed by the Indian Army on the battlefield," he said.

The campaign is organized by the Directorate of Artillery. The Artillery Regiment played a vital role during the Kargil War by providing accurate and effective fire.
