GANGTOK: The Indian Army on Monday said the force has constructed a foot suspension bridge in less than 48 hours to reconnect border villages in the northern part of Sikkim that have been hit by heavy rains and landslides. In which earlier six people had died. this month.

"Indian Army Engineers of Trishakti Corps have constructed a 150-foot suspension bridge in North Sikkim to reconnect border villages cut off due to continuous heavy rains to provide relief to the local people," the Indian Army said in a statement. " ,

It said that in less than 48 hours, a foot suspension bridge over a stream will restore connectivity with border villages and facilitate movement of people and relief material.

On 13 June, torrential rains lashed Mangan district of North Sikkim, disrupting road connectivity and communication infrastructure. As a result, around 1500 tourists were stranded for almost a week.
