Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has condemned the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Armstrong, stating that his death is a great loss for the political platform of the oppressed.

Tamil Nadu BSP chief K Armstrong was hacked to death by a group of unidentified men near his residence in Perambur, Chennai, on July 5.

Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote in 'X': "I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn that the state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, his brother Mr. Armstrong, was murdered by anti-social elements. Following the principles of Annal Ambedkar and working on the field of education of many young people and the rights of the oppressed, Armstrong's death is a great loss for the political platform of the oppressed."

The Tamil Nadu Minister further assured that Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed the officials to bring the culprits to justice.

"The police last night arrested the criminals involved in this heinous act. Furthermore, in this environment where investigation has intensified, our Chief Minister has ordered that the culprits be given due punishment. My deepest condolences to all the Bahujan Party workers Samaj - family, friends who are heartbroken for Brother Armstrong," he said.

Earlier today, CM Stalin also expressed his regret over the incident, calling it "deeply sad".

CM Stalin also said that the police have been ordered to pursue the case expeditiously and bring the culprits to justice as per law.

Taking the 'X', CM Stalin wrote: "The murder of Bahujan Samaj Party state president Mr. Armstrong is shocking and deeply saddening. The police arrested those involved in the murder overnight."

"I would like to convey my deepest condolences to all members of Armstrong's party, family, relatives and friends who are bereaved, and I have ordered police officers to pursue the case expeditiously and bring the culprits to justice as per the law". he added.

BSP supremo Mayawati said she plans to visit Chennai tomorrow to pay tribute to the slain leader.

Mayawati wrote on 'X: "Considering the seriousness of this extremely sad and worrying incident, I plan to go to Chennai tomorrow morning to pay tribute to Mr. Armstrong, meet his bereaved family and console them. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace peace and order."

The BSP supreme leader also called for immediate action from the Tamil Nadu government.

"The brutal murder of a hard-working and dedicated Tamil Nadu BSP leader and party's state unit president Shri K. Armstrong outside his residence in Chennai yesterday afternoon has sent shockwaves through the society. The government must immediately take strict/necessary measures to prevent such incidents in future," he said.

The Chennai police have arrested eight suspects so far and formed a special team to investigate the murder of the BSP leader.
