New Delhi [India], Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday assumed charge as Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Law and Justice.

His colleagues welcomed him and presented bouquets of flowers and trees.

Speaking about the functioning of the ministry, Arjun Meghwal said, "The first priority of the Ministry of Law and Justice is to implement the three amended criminal laws (Indian Judicial Code (BNS), Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Code)." The Ministry will also organize workshops, symposiums and seminars for relevant stakeholders to create awareness among citizens about the lead up to July 1 and its implementation.''

Commenting on a report on 'One Nation and One Election', Meghwal said, "The report has come and we have submitted it to the President. Details of the report will be told later."

Along with this role, Arjun Ram Meghwal has also been given the post of Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

Arjun Ram Meghwal is MP from Bikaner for the fourth time; Earlier, he had left his IAS job to join politics and is counted among Modi's trusted leaders.

In the 2024 general elections, Arjun Ram Meghwal defeated Govindram Meghwal of Congress from Bikaner seat of Rajasthan by 55,711 votes.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, who had held the post of Law and Justice Minister, had left the IAS job and chosen the path of politics.

Meghwal is an Indian politician who served as the Minister of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) of the Government of India since 2023 and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs since 2017 and as Minister of State for Culture since 2021 in Modi's second term.
