Akron (Ohio) - Arjun Atwal was headed well into a solid even-par round with five holes to go in the first round of the Kaulig Companies Golf Championship at Firestone Akron, but he bogeyed four of them.

Four bogeys dropped him to T-57 on the leaderboard.

Atwal, who made birdies in the first and sixth holes, also made consecutive birdies in the 11th and 12th holes and reached par. However, he bogeyed the 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th.

Aiming to win the Kaulig Companies Championship for the third time in four years, Steve Stricker is in the co-lead after opening with a 4-under 66. Duffy Waldorf, looking for his first win since 2016, shared the first-round lead with Stricker.

The striker is looking for his eighth senior major title, which would take him joint third on the all-time list. His last senior major win was the 2023 Kaulig Companies Championships.

He is hoping to become the second three-time winner of the Kaulig Championships (2021, 2023) and join Bernhard Langer (2014, 2015, 2016). or AM AM
