“Since there is no law and order in the state, the government is scared. This is the reason why they have put up tents in front of the police station. Are we living in Kashmir or is Karnataka some border area? Does our state police not have the capacity to investigate a simple murder case,” said LOP Ashok.

Bengaluru Police has reportedly covered the Annapurneshwari Nagar police station with an 'awning' to prevent media coverage and also imposed prohibitory order within 200 meters of the police station.

Actor Darshan, along with 16 of his associates, is being accused of murdering Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, who was apparently unhappy with Darshan's second marriage.

LOP said that taking law into one's own hands is condemnable. "No one is above the law. This incident is a black spot on the film industry. Renukaswamy could have been sent with a warning. The killed person had no criminal background. Action should be taken against the culprits,” said LOP Ashok.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also said that no one has the right to treat others inhumanely. “Whether one is a celebrity or a VIP, everyone is equal before the law. This is a serious matter and the initial proactive role of the police should continue throughout the investigation,” he said.Karnataka Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ishwar Khandre has also condemned the murder of Renukaswamy and said that he is confident that the culprits will be punished.

"The government stands strongly with the family of the deceased," the minister said.

Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Mahasabha (ABVM) has also demanded strict punishment against the culprits.

“The government should not come under anyone's influence and protect the culprits. The government should stand with the common man. If there is any negligence in the investigation, the Mahasabha will launch a statewide agitation. The victim's family should be compensated,” ABVM said.
