Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Following the success of the inaugural WomenLeaders India scholarship powered by Reliance Foundation and Vital Voices to train women leaders in the social sector in 2022-23, Reliance Foundation and Vital Voices are launching applications for 2024 - 25 cohort.

Reliance Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Limited.

In 2023, India's G20 presidency shifted its focus for the first time, from women's development to women-led development. India's collective and unwavering dedication to championing "gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls" secured a firm place in the G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration.

In line with this vision, the WomenLeaders India Scholarship will provide leadership capacity development for talented women leaders, including social sector leaders and social entrepreneurs.

The WomenLeaders India Fellowship is looking for true catalysts of change, who are building climate resilience, improving access to sports, driving educational initiatives and promoting economic self-reliance through strengthening livelihoods.

According to a joint statement, the program which will last over ten months aims to empower 50 exceptional women leaders from across India, each dedicated to driving transformative change within their communities. The future cohort will be selected for their innovative work in climate resilience (including disaster risk reduction), sports for development, education (strengthening early childhood care and education or addressing basic literacy and numeracy) and generation of livelihoods at the grassroots level.

All fellows will also work on their innovative projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the fellowship, benefiting from the support of mentors and peers.

According to the joint statement, applications are open from July 1, 2024 to July 28, 2024 at 23:59 IST. (Apply now: https://reliancefoundation.org/womenleadersindiafellowship)

The fellowship begins in September 2024 and begins and ends with in-person meetings in India. In the intervening months, the program includes a mix of virtual webinars and town hall meetings focused on leadership and skill development with leading Indian and international experts.

Each selected Fellow will also benefit from personalized mentoring to support her or his leadership journey as well as peer engagement.

The fellowship training focuses on leadership capacity development and skill development and is designed to ultimately strengthen participants' leadership and increase the success of their ventures and endeavors. Fellows will also benefit from joining a vibrant community of WomenLeaders India Fellowship alumni. This will provide visibility and networking opportunities nationally and internationally, through the Reliance Foundation and the Vital Voices network.

The program will culminate in a final in-person meeting, where fellows will present their impactful projects aligned with the SDGs, where selected winning projects will receive a grant to help scale their project further.

In December 2022, fifty inspiring women from India's social sector were identified for the inaugural scholarship. The inaugural batch of scholarship recipients were selected for their work in education, rural transformation, livelihood strengthening and sports for development.
