Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts. People with this condition make repeated pauses in breathing, as well as huffing and puffing. This reduces oxygen levels in the blood, making the condition potentially fatal.

Reports noted that by using the sleep tracking feature, the new Apple Watch Series 10 will be able to detect sleep apnea in users. It can then alert the user and recommend additional testing.

Other key health features include a change in the processing of health data collected by these sensors.

This includes using new algorithms in the iPhone's Health app to check for atrial fibrillation, rather than on the Apple Watch itself, reports claim.

The long-awaited event, with the theme "Its Glowtime", is expected to take place on September 9.

Other potential features of the Watch Series 10 include slightly larger displays and a slimmer case that will be available in 44mm and 48mm sizes.

Additionally, it will likely also come with better water resistance to enable compatibility with the Apple Watch Ultra's Depth app.

Another expected feature is “Reflections”, a watch face that reacts to ambient light.

Despite the new additions, Apple likely won't include the blood oxygen sensor feature it removed from existing watches following a patent dispute with Masimo.

Apple Watch is known to offer heart health features such as high and low heart rate notifications, cardiovascular fitness, irregular rhythm notifications, the ECG app, and atrial fibrillation (AFib) history. It has also been instrumental in saving many lives.

In May, the Apple Watch Series 7 saved the life of a Delhi woman by alerting her to her abnormal heart rhythm. In January, a London-based doctor saved an elderly woman's life in the air using the banned Apple Watch pulse oximeter that monitors blood oxygen levels.

Last year, Apple Watch helped save the life of a trail runner by calling an ambulance after she fell while running.
