According to data, this accounts for more than 80 percent of the total iPhone production/assembly in the country.

Major Apple suppliers (including Foxconn, which leads with about 65 percent of total exports) have strengthened their supply chains in recent months.

Apple ended FY24 in India with total iPhone production of around $14 billion (over Rs 1 lakh crore), and the market value of these iPhones will be around $22 billion.

According to PM Modi, demonstrating domestic manufacturing strength, Apple has doubled iPhone production in India and one in seven iPhones in the world is now being manufactured in the country.

India is now the world's second largest mobile phone manufacturer.

Recently, in an interview given to NDTV, the Prime Minister said that one out of every seven iPhones in the world is now being made in India.

PM Modi said, "We are also exporting Apple products in record numbers which is a great example of the success of the PLI scheme."

About 25 percent of all iPhones will be made in India by 2028.

The iPhone maker had record first-quarter shipments in the country, growing 19 percent (year-on-year).

Apple shipped about 10 million iPhones to India last year, accounting for 7 percent of the market share.

Led by mobile phones, exports of electronic goods from India have seen tremendous growth in the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, the Cupertino-based giant is also strengthening its ecosystem by building a network of local vendors, thereby reducing its dependence on China while creating millions of jobs in the country.

So far, more than 1.5 lakh people have got employment in the Apple ecosystem in the country.

The company achieved strong double-digit growth in India in the March quarter this year.
