New Delhi, Apollo Tires on Monday said it has joined hands with testing and verification service provider NATRAX to set up a test track to validate tires for electric vehicles.

The collaboration aims to provide a dedicated testing facility for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, enabling them to test and verify the cut and chi resistance of tyres.

Evaluation of cut and chip resistance of tires is important for EVs due to their unique features such as regenerative braking and high-speed acceleration.

Satish Sharma, President (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa), Apollo Tires, says that by investing in the facility, the facility will enable the company to rapidly develop tires for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), especially for EVs, and low rolling resistance tyres, designed specifically for Indian roads, keeping in mind the country's unique road conditions and climate.

NATRAX Director Manish Jaiswal said the newly constructed test track is available to passenger vehicles, commercial vehicle OEMs and tire manufacturers.

Located near Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh, NATRAX is one of the automotive testing and certification centers under NATRiP, a flagship project of the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
