In a clip posted to Instagram by Letterboxd, Taylor-Joy shared the story on July 6 during an interview with her co-star Chris Hemsworth, who starred in Tom Hanks's iconic film, reports People.com. Marks the 30th anniversary of its release.

In the clip, Hemsworth asked Taylor-Joy if anything "special" had happened in her life while on the film's iconic bench.

"Yes, my husband accidentally proposed to me on the Forrest Gump bench in Savannah," she responded, adding that it was a "complete accident."

Bench played an important role in 'Forrest Gump', directed by Robert Zemeckis, released in 1994. The film also stars Sally Field as Forrest's mother and Robin Wright as his girlfriend.

Much of the story is told in flashback, in which Forrest tells his life story to strangers he meets on a bench while waiting for the bus.

The 'Dune: Part Two' star added, "And he's a guy from Alabama, and I'm white, so... it just happened. I listen to that music, and cry like a baby."

The video was captioned: "Thinking about Anya Taylor-Joy's marriage proposal today."

The British-American actress secretly married musician Malcolm McRae in New Orleans in April 2022, before the couple celebrated a second wedding in Venice, Italy in October 2023.

However, it is unlikely that McRae proposed to Taylor-Joy on the same bench that Hanks sat on during filming, as it is now housed in the Savannah History Museum, Georgia. The two may have gotten engaged on a similar bench at Savannah's Chippewa Square bus stop, where the scenes were filmed.
