Bengaluru: Star long jumper Ansi Sojan won the gold medal in the women's category with a jump of 6.52 meters at the Indian Grand Prix here on Wednesday.

The Asian Games silver medalist made a successful return to competition after a seven-month absence due to injury.

The 23-year-old long jumper from Kerala, however, could not touch the Olympic qualification mark of 6.96m and fell well short of her personal best of 6.63m.

In women's 400 meters, Dandi Jyothika of Andhra Pradesh won the gold medal with a timing of 51.53 seconds. Shubha Venkatesan of Tamil Nadu stood second with 52.34 seconds and MR Poovamma of Karnataka stood third with 52.62 seconds.

In the men's 100m, Tamil Nadu sprinter Ragul Kumar put in an impressive performance by touching the tape in 10.56 seconds.Manikant Hoblidhar of Karnataka finished second with 10.64 seconds.

Kerala's C Abhinav won the bronze medal with a timing of 10.67 seconds.

In the respective women's events, Karnataka sprinters finished first and third. SS Sneha won the gold medal in 11.41 seconds, while her state teammate V Sudhiska clocked 11.75 seconds for the bronze medal.

Abhinay Rajarajan got silver medal at 11.60 seconds.However, leading javelin thrower Kishore Jena did not make it as the remaining two participants from Uttar Pradesh, Sachin Yadav (82.69) and Rohit Yadav (75.52) took the honours.
