Kishanganj, In the fourth incident of its kind in Bihar in over a week, a bridge collapsed in Kishanganj district on Thursday. The officers provided this information.

District Magistrate Tushar Singla said that the bridge, located in Bahadurganj block, was 70 meters long and 12 meters wide.

"This bridge was built in 2011 over the Madiya, a small tributary connecting the Kanakai river with the Mahananda. Heavy rainfall in the catchment area in Nepal has caused the water level to rise suddenly. Not one of the pillars of the bridge could withstand that fast. Face the current,” he said.

He said that no one was injured in the incident.

He said that barricading has been done at both ends of the bridge to prevent any kind of movement during the repair work.

Last week, three incidents of bridge collapse were reported from Araria, Siwan and Araria districts.

Over the past few years, several similar incidents have occurred in different parts of the state, and although no deaths have occurred, it has raised questions about the quality of public works in the state.
