Mumbai, An upcoming biographical film will narrate the inspiring journey of India's first female IPS officer Kiran Bedi.

The film, titled "Bedi: The Name You Know. The Story You Don't", will be written and directed by Kushal Chawla, the producers said in a press release. It will be produced by Dream Slate Pictures.

According to the makers, the film will highlight the untold incidents, personal and professional challenges and unwavering determination that shaped his extraordinary career in policing.“This story is not just my story. This is the story of an Indian woman – an Indian woman who grew up in India, studied in India, was raised by Indian parents and worked for the people of India throughout her career. My story began at the age of nine when my father told me, 'Life is downhill, you either go up or you come down,' and my mother said, 'You have to be a giver, not a taker.' '

Bedi said in a statement, "These statements remain my guiding principles. As we aim to release this film in the 50th International Women's Year, it will be the story of an Indian woman representing our great nation at the international level.,

Chawla, who previously directed the short film "Another Time", called the film a "labor of love".

"Four years of extensive research and screenwriting have been dedicated to ensuring an authentic and insightful portrayal of Dr. Kiran Bedi, India's most beloved and iconic police officer."

“She has been a tremendous inspiration to me, and trusting her to direct this film is truly a blessing.
