Anjali was stabbed to death by an angry lover in front of her family members in her house on Wednesday. Despite the family having already informed the police about the threat, the police did not take any action. The incident, which took place in Hubli soon after the brutal murder of MCA student Neha Hirmat on the college campus, has sparked public outrage.

Shettar said that the murderer in Anjali's case should be given strict punishment. H criticized the police in Hubli for not taking action, citing lack of coordination between officials and the government.

The police have not yet arrested the accused Vishwa alias Girish. Two police teams have been formed to nab him. The police department has suspended a police inspector and a woman constable for negligence. However, there are demands for removal of Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar for failing to sensitize the police cadre to act swiftly on issues related to women safety.
