AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh government is unlikely to complete the translation process of three new criminal laws before they come into force across the country on July 1.

Law Secretary V Sunitha said that only half the work of translation of the Indian Code of Justice 2023, the Indian Civil Defense 2023 and the Indian Evidence Act 2023 into Telugu has been completed.

Sunita said, "The work of translation of all three laws into Telugu language is going on. Only half the work has been completed yet.'' He told that the work is huge.

He said retired employees who are familiar with the work have been assigned the task of translation. However, he pointed to staff shortages.

The three news laws are to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act.
