Amaravati, Apart from leaving a trail of violence at many places, the simultaneously fought Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh have shaken many political families, resulting in discord and separation. Siblings competed against each other, a son contested against his minister-father, while a determined wife was convinced at the last minute to stop competing against her husband.

In this bloody battle, YSRCP chief and outgoing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy faced a real challenge from his sister, Andhra Pradesh Congress chief YS Sharmila, who emerged as a 'thorn in his thorn'. After experimenting with politics in Telangana through the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) and merging it with the Congress, Sharmila took charge of Andhra Pradesh's oldest party, at times targeting her brother on a daily basis. Cousin sister Sunita Nareddy was also present. ,

Speaking in Maydukuru in Cuddapah district on April 8, Sharmila said, “Jagan is not at all the successor of YSR (YS Rajasekhara Reddy). There is no similarity between YSR and Jagan led regime...Jagan's reign is marked by killings. Politics."

As the Congress candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, Sharmila has fielded her cousin YSRCP's YS Avinash Reddy, who is an accused in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Although she lost, Sharmila secured over 1.4 lakh votes and managed to reverse the electoral loss to Avinash Reddy, who won by a margin of 62,695 votes.

Avinash Reddy had the full support of Jagan Mohan Reddy, who said that the people of Cuddapah knew who killed his uncle Vivekananda Reddy.A 'conspiracy' has been hatched to 'ruin' the life of Avinash Reddy and it is alleged that his younger sisters Sharmila and Nareddy are 'part' of it.

The mother of Rajasekhara Reddy's wife and his siblings, except Jagan Mohan Reddy, Avinash Reddy, YS Vijayamma, supported her daughter Sharmila and urged the Kadapa Lok Sabha voters to vote for her daughter. Similarly, Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency saw a fight between brothers, K Srinivas and K. K Shivnath. YSRCP's transport tycoon-turned-politician Srinivas fielded his younger brother Shivnath from TDP. Elder brother Srinivas (58) was a prominent TDP leader till a few months ago, but differences with party leaders forced him to join the YSRCP in January.

Ultimately, his gambit did not pay off and Srinivas lost the battle to Shivnath, who won by a huge margin of over 2.82 lakh votes, securing a total of 7,94,154 votes. In North Andhra region, Duvvada Vani, wife of YSRCP's Thekkali Assembly constituency candidate Duvvada Srinivas, moved closer to competing against her husband for several reasons. At the last moment, senior party leaders successfully convinced him not to do so.

Similarly, YSRCP Anakapalle Lok Sabha candidate and Deputy Chief Minister B Mutyala Naidu's son B Ravi Kumar contested the Madugula assembly seat as an independent against his half-sister E Anuradha and all three members of the family lost the election.

The second result was that violence took place at many places, which reached such an extent that even common people loyal to TDP and YSRCP leaders started attacking each other at many places. Palnadu, Tirupati and Anantapur districts became notorious for such attacks.

Despite the authorities promising security to YSRCP supporters in the wake of alleged attacks by Janasena and TDP workers, violent incidents have not subsided.Voting was held on May 13 for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena won 164 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats with an overwhelming majority. YSRCP has been reduced to an insignificant position with only 11 assembly and four MP seats.
