Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met World Bank officials here on Tuesday and requested them to extend support for several irrigation projects in the state.

The Chief Minister met Sumila Gulyani, Joop Stoutjesdijk, Rajgopal Singh and others from the Bretton Woods Institutions.

The Bretton Woods institutions are the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), so named because both were founded in July 1944 at a meeting of 43 countries in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, United States.

"Had a fruitful meeting... requesting their (World Bank) help in completing pending irrigation projects, river basin planning, dam safety, (and) flood management for long-term water security, water supply and sanitation in rural areas to be done." Naidu said in a post on X.

He said that the World Bank team responded positively.

“With their help, we look forward to strengthening our water management capacity,” the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said.
