Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena along with officials of the Election Commission of India and additional CEOs met Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

The officials submitted a report to the Election Commission of India with the list of members elected in the 2024 general election to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Earlier on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer dissolved the 15th state assembly from Wednesday after the results of the elections were declared on June 4.

The Governor accepted the advice of the Cabinet and signed the order dissolving the 15th State Assembly, paving the way for the formation of the 16th Assembly in Andhra Pradesh.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) (b) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, I, S. Abdul Nazeer, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, on the advice of the Council of Ministers, hereby dissolve the Fifteenth Andhra Pradesh State Legislature Secretariat “The Legislative Assembly will come into force with effect from the date of this notification,” it said in a notification issued on Wednesday.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday submitted his resignation to Governor S Abdul Nazeer following the defeat of YSR Congress in the assembly elections.

The Governor accepted the resignation of CM Reddy and asked him to remain the acting Chief Minister till the new government takes charge.

N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) registered a landslide victory and maintained its dominance in the southern state by winning 135 out of total 175 seats in the Andhra Assembly. Its allies, the Pawan Kalyan-led Janasena Party and the BJP, won 21 and eight seats respectively. The ruling YSRCP in the state was reduced to 11 seats.
