Nandyala (Andhra Pradesh), Andhra Pradesh Forest Department on Friday captured a leopard which had killed a woman in Nandyala district, an official said.

On Tuesday, a woman was killed by a leopard about 1 km inside the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR).

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF, Wildlife) Shantipriya Pandey said, "The leopard caught near Pacherla check post is the same animal that had killed the woman."

Incidentally, the deceased woman was a resident of Pacherla village.

Pandey said the big cat entered the cage kept for capture on Friday morning and is now being shifted to Tirupati Zoo.

Located in the Nallamalla hill range, off the Eastern Ghats, the NSTR is 3,728 sq km large, spread across Palnadu, Nandyala and Prakasam districts.

The forest department has also rescued another leopard which had fallen into a dry well at Devanagaram village in Prakasam district on Thursday night.
